The room
What a recital is like
A recital is a short afternoon in a small room, with chairs set out and a piano at the side. A child plays one piece, alone or with the group, and bows. Then everyone claps for everyone.
Some students play for the first time in the fall, and some come only to listen. You decide with your child, and your teacher helps you choose a piece.

For families
Coming to a recital
Arrive early
Come ten minutes before the start so your child can tune, sit with the group and breathe.
Sit together
Grandparents, cousins and friends are welcome. Silence phones and clap at the end of each piece.
Listen, then celebrate
Every piece ends with a bow. Tell your child what you heard, and keep the plan for the next piece.
Want to play this year?
Start any time. Your teacher chooses a piece with you when you are ready.
