Formats
Two ways to take a class
Lesson length and format are the first things that set tuition. Your teacher suggests the right ones.
Private lessons
One student with one teacher and a parent beside them, for 30, 45 or 60 minutes each week. The youngest usually start with 30.

Violin or viola
Group class
Up to 8 children at the same stage, for 45 to 60 minutes, playing the pieces they know. A student takes it beside a private lesson.

How tuition works
We give you our figures in writing at your first visit. Here is what sets them, and how everything else works.
Four things set tuition: the length of the lesson, whether it is a private lesson or a group class, the teacher, and how many weeks a session holds. Our figures are in writing at your first visit.

Weekly classes, a session at a time
Registration
A yearly registration covers your student file, the first visit and scheduling your weekly time with a teacher. It is due when you accept the time we offer.
Billing
Tuition is billed monthly or a session at a time, by autopay or by invoice. A monthly plan covers the whole session, not only the months your child attends.
Withdrawing
Tell us in writing a month before your last lesson, by email or at the front desk. We explain what happens to a session in progress.
Missed classes and make-ups
A lesson you cancel with a day's notice is made up within the session, and a lesson your teacher cancels always is. A group class is not made up.
Uniforms, costumes and other costs
Ask about renting a violin or viola in the right size, and about trading up as your child grows. Strings, rosin, a shoulder rest and music books are separate. We tell you what each is for before you buy anything.
